The short version
Pocket Pilot is a study app. You can download it and start learning without creating an account. Your study progress is stored on your device, not on our servers. We use a small number of third-party services to process payments, to fix crashes, and to understand how the app is used, described below.
Information we collect
Study data stored on your device
Your progress, streaks, exam scores, bookmarks and settings are saved locally on your device. The data itself stays on your device and is not uploaded to any server of ours. We do receive anonymous usage events about study activity, described under “Usage analytics” below.
Purchase information
If you buy a subscription or upgrade, the purchase is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play and our payments provider, RevenueCat. We receive a record that a purchase was made and its status (for example, active or expired) so we can unlock features. We never see your card details.
Pocket Pilot Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (Monthly or Annual) or as a one-time Lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them at any time in your App Store or Google Play account. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency. Full purchase and subscription terms are set out in our Terms of Service.
Diagnostics and crash reports
To keep the app stable we use Sentry to collect crash and error reports. These reports can include technical details such as your device model, operating system version, and the events leading up to a crash. They are used only to diagnose and fix problems.
Usage analytics
To understand which features are useful and improve the app, we collect anonymous usage events with PostHog, hosted in the European Union. Events describe actions in the app, such as completing a lesson section, quiz or practice exam (including the score), viewing the upgrade screen, and completing a purchase (the tier, price and currency, never payment details), along with technical context such as device model, operating system version and app version.
These events are linked to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name, email address or any account. We do not derive your location from these events: location lookup is disabled and client IP data is discarded at ingestion.
How we use information
- To provide the app and unlock features you have purchased.
- To diagnose, fix and prevent crashes and bugs.
- To understand how the app is used, so we can decide what to improve.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third-party services
The services below process limited data on our behalf. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution and payments.
- RevenueCat for subscription and purchase management.
- Sentry for crash and error reporting.
- PostHog for anonymous usage analytics.
Data retention
Study data remains on your device until you delete the app or reset your progress. Crash reports, usage analytics and purchase records are kept only as long as needed for the purposes above.
Your choices and rights
- You can reset your progress at any time from within the app.
- You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the app.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold. Contact us to make a request.
Children
Pocket Pilot is intended for student pilots and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
